Digital Fabrication

I have been creating objects that quote instruments of precision. However the objects that I have been creating are not functional in a normative sense. I refer to them as fictional; their function is believable but unknowable. I am interested in the way precision, measurement and technology co-opt perception. Instruments of precision often illustrate quantification and factual data. I appropriate these kinds of signifiers for instruments whose application is intentionally abstruse. My work attempts to illustrate factuality as fluid and highly contingent.

Digital fabrication is instrumental to these works because it allows the form and the content to marry. The computer is the ultimate precision instrument. Digital fabrication is excellent for the creation of prototypes and sometimes function. I wanted to use the application of these tools to speak to experience of the fabrication process. My perception was augmented through my interaction with software, and my ability to interact with the three dimensional word was similarly augmented through the software and hardware. I wanted to make work that speaks to the nature of this augmentation.
